Second Shift Literacy

Second Shift Literacy

It’s the end of the second shift, 5pm to 7pm.

My eyes are weary. My shoulders are tight.

My mouth is dry. My heels hurt.

I

am

tired.

And children went home with books, smiles, and laughter.

Tired.

And satisfied.

  1. My second shift is on Wednesdays. I love it though and understand the weariness….I think then about my homeshift…always the last shift reading together at night with my 6th grader…Love how you used the white space and shaped the poem.
